Kings Camp - north-east South Africa "The Timbavati Area is a private reserve adjoining Kruger National Park's 2.2 million hectares, which is serious Big Five territory. There's lots of big and small wildlife. This is a typical Lowveld environment with hot summers, beautiful mild winters and expansive acacia bush broken by statuesque Marula trees. My father first took me through Kruger National Park in 1972, when I was twelve. We were on our way to Mozambique. In those days the Park roads were dirt and less well kept. Today, Kruger National Park has been recognised as one of Africa's best wildlife reserves and a developed internal road system allows independent game drives. Kings Camp typically epitomises South Africa in spirit and atmosphere; open custom designed Land Rovers, delicious traditional fireside meals, excellent Cape wines, enthusiastic and entertaining guides. It is easily accessible by most forms of transport. The valuable essence of this lodge for me is that it is private, beautifully decorated and has a personal flair."
