Rovos Rail The result of one mans dream the only private train company in the world that has its own station, 3 km north of Pretoria city centre in South Africa. There is a selection of scheduled and annual luxury rail itineraries, covering fabulous territories with destinations such as Cape Town, Durban and beyond South Africas borders to Victoria Falls (Zimbabwe) and into Namibia or Tanzania as far as Dar-es-Salaam. A recent addition to Rovos Rails annual itineraries is The African Collage departing from Pretoria to Cape Town via Maputo in Mozambique and Durban. A fleet of three luxurious trains comprising of Classic l, Classic ll and The Edwardian. The Edwardian is an original wooden coach train while the Classics are steel coach trains. They have all been painstakingly restored combining extravagant elegance with modern conveniences. The Royal or Deluxe en suite compartments are opulently furbished and service is tendered with great aplomb. An example of one journey: PRETORIA (SOUTH AFRICA) TO SWAKOPMUND (NAMIBIA) A seven day journey commencing from Pretoria through to Kimberley, the Fish River Canyon, Windhoek, the Etosha Pan and finally arriving at Swakopmund. The train stops at prime attractions en route. Day 1: Depart Rovos Rails private station in Pretoria Day 2: Arrive in Kimberley to undertake tour of the Big Hole and historical Kimberley. Day 3: Arrive Holoog Siding. Visit Fish River Canyon and enjoy lunch at Canyon Lodge. Day 4: Arrive Windhoek. Station Museum visit and Windhoek City Tour. Lunch at Okapuka Ranch with afternoon game drive and lion feeding. Day 5: Arrive Tsumeb. Transfer to Mokuti Lodge for lunch, game drive and overnight. Day 6: Early morning game drive into Etosha Pan.
