"I grew up in Zambia and this is where my passion for Africa is rooted. Zambia lies within the Inter-Tropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) and therefore benefits from good rains during the summer wet season. The vegetation is wildly rampant and changes due to the influence of the Rift Valley, which passes through the east side. The conservation areas, especially South Luangwa National Park, are just teeming with wildlife.

I have childhood memories of listening to my father in awe (probably the only time I was attentive!), as he told bush stories of walking safaris in South Luangwa and meeting up with enormous charging bull elephants. In those days it was a tremendous adventure to track through the bush and carry your tent with you, setting up a new campsite each night. Now there are more upmarket camps and lodges, all with a different flair. There is still a rich diversity of wildlife. Probably some of my biggest elephant sightings, as well as large wildlife herds, have been in Zambia."
