The River Club - not far from Victoria Falls on the Zambesi River's bank "This place looked like a movie set from 'Out Of Africa' - pure colonial style with a distinct Edwardian flavour, set among lush riverine vegetation and upstream from the famous Victoria Falls. It even had its own croquet lawn but I couldn't see anyone in long draped skirts and flowing bonnets!! Walking around River Club stirred up a lot of nostalgia and romantic images. For once I was able to visualise myself as Meryl Streep, walking around this dreamy place with Robert Redford!! My thatched cottage opened on one side to the Great Zambezi River and the view was stunning. Natural background music was provided in the form of elephants, lions and hippos giving their night calls. The River Club's location is perfect - enough distance from the bustle of Victoria Falls for it to be completely peaceful, but near enough to participate in the endless adventure activities for which this tourist town is famous. All ten rooms have en suite facilities. Two honeymoon suites are available. The rooms have fans and the main house comprises of a dining room, lounge, pub area and library.
